Dan Thornton

Mr. Thornton is a Marine (there is no such thing as an ex-Marine) who enlisted in 1969 and, about a quarter century later, reached the rank of Master Sergeant. Along the way he saw combat in Vietnam (and was wounded after 5 months and 13 days in the war area); was sent to Beirut, Lebanon twice; and saw action in the 1991 Desert Storm operation.

Mr. Thornton also worked as member of the Honolulu, Hawaii, Police Department for 14 years.

A native of Clarksville and graduate of Burt High School, Mr. Thornton returned to Tennessee and started teaching at Cheatham County Central High School in the fall of 2007. He currently teaches World Geography, and his email address is thorntond@cheatham.k12.tn.us.
